South Tahoe cheerleaders to compete

Provided to the Tahoe Daily Tribune. The South Tahoe High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad will compete in the Nevada State Championships on March 4 in Carson City.

The South Tahoe High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad will compete in the Nevada State Championship on Saturday, March 4. The competition will take place from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Carson High School in Carson City.

The intention of the Spirit Championship is to highlight and acknowledge the accomplishments of Nevada state’s spirit squad athletes. Members of the Spirit Squad spend their school year supporting the many athletes at South Tahoe High.

The team will be competing in a 4A coed division against teams from all over Nevada. The Vikings have been working all season long on their routine under the coaching of Shauna and Chrystal Hixenbaugh.

The 14 competing team members include Aimee DeBacker, Kaylee Dennis, Anna McCracken, Cassie Sweet, Gary Graham, Trisha Talbot, Andrea Matthews, Kristen Barker, Megan Lafferty, Miranda Defressine, Megan Pitrowski, Jackie Scanio, Lindsay Davenport and Aimee Rennison.
