South Tahoe claims quarterfinals

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif – Round 1 of the playoffs went to the Vikings.

A strong fourth-quarter led the Vikings to a 66-54 quarterfinal win over Fallon at South Tahoe High School, Tuesday.

The Green Wave held their own against the veteran Vikings, a team stacked with 11 seniors.

South Tahoe led 29-27 at halftime, but Fallon charged out in the third quarter.

Fallon went on a nine-point unanswered run to open the second half and take a 36-29 lead.

But South Tahoe’s Brandon Cramer started chipping away at Fallon’s momentum; forcing a turnover and bringing the game back within two-points.

Behind Cramer, the Vikings climbed back to a 44-39 lead by the end of the third.

South Tahoe used the momentum to power through the fourth quarter. The Vikings outscored Fallon 22-15 to end it and cement their trip to the semifinals.

Cramer led the Vikings with 24 points and a 9-of-12 2-point performance.
