South Tahoe Golf takes fourth at Fallon
FALLON, Nev. – It was a long, hot day in Fallon for the Vikings girls’ golf team on Thursday, but the team was able to pull out a positive fourth place finish out of eight teams.
Head coach Greg Kuntz said the team is off to a better start that last year, but noted that his two, three and four players are going to have to cut down on strokes this year to make the postseason.
“It was a good first day. I was proud of everybody,” Kuntz said. “This is a positive first day, we just got to get more shots.”
Senior Morgan Murphy led the Vikings with a score of 87 on the par 72 course in Fallon. Sophomore Ayden Williamson scored a 125, sophomore Katie Sears scored a 126 and junior Jessica Robberson scored a 125.
South Tahoe scored a 463, which was fairly far off from Elko’s 377, which was good enough to win the event. Lowry finished the tournament second with a score of 389, followed by Spring Creek at 426. Behind Tahoe was Fernley at 486, followed by Fallon at 532, Truckee at 545 and Dayton at 786.
