South Tahoe Library to join ‘The Big Read’

The South Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Library will join “The Big Read,” an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) designed to restore reading to the center of American culture.

Events will take place in February and March throughout El Dorado County, with an event in South Lake Tahoe from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Actor Michael Oakes will tell the story of Jack London’s life. From a 9-year-old factory worker to an adventurer and writer, London roamed the globe, ran for mayor of Oakland and was recruited as a presidential candidate.
