South Tahoe man OK after motorcycle crash

Gregory Crofton

A South Lake Tahoe motorcyclist lost control and crashed Sunday when his 2002 Honda motorcycle slid out as he rode eastbound through a curve on Highway 50 about five miles from Sierra-at-Tahoe.

Joseph Arellano, 30, crashed around 7:30 p.m. when his bike slid into the guardrail and ended up going over it.

“He was in a curve and going too fast for the roadway conditions,” said Officer Steve Gwaltney, of the California Highway Patrol.

Care Flight transported Arellano, who was wearing a helmet, to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, where he was treated for bumps and bruises and released, Gwaltney said. The motorcycle was damaged but not totaled.
