South Tahoe Public Utility District Board member’s felony hearing scheduled

A preliminary hearing for South Tahoe Public Utility District Board member Dale Rise has been scheduled for Jan. 22.

Rise faces a single felony count of resisting police for a September incident where officers responded to Rise’s home following a report of a possible domestic disturbance.

Rise allegedly tried to slam the front door of the home in the face of responding officers and attempted to shock one of the officers with a Taser device that the officers had used, unsuccessfully, against Rise, according to police.

At next month’s hearing, a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to continue the case against Rise.

Court documents indicate Rise has no prior convictions in El Dorado County.
