South Tahoe Vikings win third straight swim meet

The South Tahoe High boys’ swimming team used five different winners and two relay victories to romp past Lowry 127-96 Thursday in a Zephyr League dual in Winnemucca.

The STHS girls, however, lost to the Buckaroos by the narrowest of margins, 126-125.

For the boys, Francisco Marin, Evan Rabbetts, Luca Genasci and David Wise won the 200 medley relay in 1 minute, 51.41 seconds and combined to win the 200 free relay as well in 1:40.89.

Wise won the 200 free (2:01.59) and 500 free by 30 seconds (5:31.19), Evan Rabbetts convincingly took first by more than 20 seconds in the 200 individual medley (2:10.29) and won by 13 seconds in the 100 free (51.43), Genasci placed first in the 100 butterfly 1:02.40, Marin picked up top billing in the 100 backstroke (1:02.18) and Kyle Garon finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.91).

The South Tahoe girls produced four individual victories and a relay win against the Buckaroos.

South Tahoe won the 200 medley relay, as Hanna Bratton, Clara Stewart, Casey Delacruz and Alexis Smith were timed in 2:09.72.

Bratton went untested in her two individual events, winning the 200 free by nearly 19 seconds with her time of 2:07.52 and romped by 10 seconds in the 100 butterfly (1:06.87).

Delacruz was victorious in the 200 individual medley in 2:41.41, Smith won the 50 free in 30.89 and Stewart finished first by more than a minute in the 500 free (5:55.74).

The Vikings’ next dual is April 25 against North Valleys in Incline Village.
