Spa proposal goes to planning commission

MARKLEEVILLE – One of largest developments proposed in tiny Alpine County will go before planning commissioners today.

The Markleeville Village/ Mahalee Lodge project includes:

n A 40-room lodge with spa, restaurant, meeting space, covered parking, outdoor pool/deck and three employee housing units.

n Seventy cabins, proposed for quarter-share ownership.

n A commercial development area that includes 14 buildings separate from the proposed lodge.

n Infrastructure necessary to serve the development.

A petition opposing the development is expected to be presented at the meeting.
