Speech pathology workshop offered

Tribune

Often parents wonder if their child is developing “normally” or on schedule with regard to speech and language. Parents often compare their children to siblings or others of the same age. Many times when parents do have concerns, they are not sure what to do for help.

Speech-language pathologists at Barton Memorial Hospital will host a free workshop at 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the El Dorado County Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Speech-language pathologists have many techniques, methods and fun activities to help increase children’s speech and language development. During the workshop they will share tips on how parents can use everyday activities to expand their child’s speech repertoire. They also will answer questions and concerns regarding a child’s speech and language development. They will demonstrate how to use common items and turn almost all situations into a language learning opportunity.

For more information call Susanne Bull or Traci Kennedy at Barton Memorial Hospital, (530) 542-2000, Ext. 4743.
