After being unable to convert several scoring chances early in the first half, the Whittell High boys’ soccer team finally broke through in the 42nd minute in beating Spring Creek 1-0 on Friday in Zephyr Cove.
Ignacio Calvo scored the Warriors’ lone goal, helping the team improve to 10-8-2 overall.
“It was a solid win for us,” said WHS coach Steve Maltase. “Spring Creek was coming off a win over Battle Mountain and it scored four goals, so it was big for our defense to shut them down.”
