Beach volleyball tourney to hit Zephyr Cove

Beach volleyball tourney to hit Zephyr Cove

Volleyball players of all ages and skill levels are invited to join the 21st annual Legends Beach Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at Zephyr Cove Beach. Teams, or pairings, will be arranged by skill level. At least four games are guaranteed for all registered players. Entry costs $45 and comes with a tournament shirt, appetizers on the beach, drink tokens and a chance to win prizes. Pre-registration is encouraged to smooth out the seeding process. Walk-up registration opens at 9 a.m. There will be a surprise special event from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Pool play will begin later that day at 6 p.m. There will be an awards ceremony and player party at 8 p.m.

Volleyball will continue into the following weekend, Aug. 23 and 24, with the Zephyr Cove King of The Mountain tournament. The tournament will showcase big-court sideout volleyball, multiple divisions and a cash purse for the men’s open division. For more info, visit http://www.harborbeachopen.com.



Biking and building



Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association, or TAMBA, is looking for volunteers for a Trail Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in conjunction with the first Meyers Mountain Bike Festival on Sunday. Volunteer trail builders will be rewarded for helping with goodies, including a free barbecue lunch at Watta Bike on Saturday and a free drink ticket for the festival on Sunday. TAMBA will be working on the lower portion of Toads that connects into the Meyers neighborhood. On Sunday, TAMBA will provide info on current and upcoming mountain bike projects and how to get involved. There will also be free stickers, membership signups and info on upcoming events like the Tahoe Fat Tire Festival and the Annual Rose to Toads Ride.
