The South Tahoe girls soccer team didn’t have its top game Tuesday — but still managed a victory. The Vikings beat Lowry 3-0 at Viking Stadium, extending their unbeaten streak in league play to 11 matches.

“It was a rather pedestrian performance yet again,” Vikings head coach Jeremy Evans said.

“There were some positives of course, glimpses of why we can be a great team, but we are not playing an entire game with a sense of urgency that great teams do. We’re still too inconsistent at a time in the season where that can be costly.”

South Tahoe (13-2-1, 10-0-1 I-A Northern) had a two-goal lead at halftime with goals from forward Jordyn Dion and midfielder Ally King. The Vikings added to their lead after halftime with a 66th-minute goal from Grace Schouten — she took a flick through from Dion and easily beat Lowry’s goalkeeper for the final goal of the match.

In the first round of league play, South Tahoe beat Lowry (4-5-3, 3-4-2) by a 7-0 margin. The Vikings again dominated possession in their second meeting with the Buckaroos, but couldn’t finish their chances as part of a sluggish performance.

“It’s almost as if we’ve overlooked opponents recently because we’re focused on the rematch with Truckee on Friday,” Evans said. “We must improve in a lot of areas — and quickly — if we are going to be successful in the rematch.”

South Tahoe travels to play Truckee on Friday in a match between the top two teams in the league.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
