South Tahoe swimmers take first in Valentine’s ‘sweet meet’

With four first-place finishes, South Lake Tahoe’s 14-year-old swimmer, Natalie Turner, celebrated as the overall high point winner for the girls’ division (age 13-14) at the St. Valentine’s Day Invitational swimming meet Feb. 14 in Minden.

Turner is a member of the Tahoe Swim Club and was one of more than 400 swimmers representing 15 teams from California and Nevada at the USA/Pacific Swimming-sanctioned event.

Teammates Dan Kalinowski, 6, also finished in first place for the boys’ division (age 6-and-under) backstroke.

Winning ribbons for finishing in the top 12 for one or more events were fellow Tahoe swimmers Melissa Anstett, Maia Bickert, Pierce Bickert, Hanna Bratton, Sarah Burks, Allison Churchill, Lissie Stewart, Travis Swoger, Jorie Turner, Casey Willits, Trevor Fairbank, Tyler Fairbank, Katie Gelverio, Calvin Giacomazzi, Nick Gibson, Kaylee Kalinowski, Mary Kalinowski, Brooke King, James McCoy, Shelby McIntyre, Kybur Oberhaus, Lacey Payne, Tim Powers, Zack Powers, Albert Reed, Caitlin Robinson, Kelsey Smith, Kira Smith, Lakin Smith, Clara Stewart and David Wise.

Tahoe Swim Club coaches are Jerry Erickson, Dale Bogard and Lee Payne.
