SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Capt. Paul Mueller of Tahoe Sport Fishing landed a 24-pound mackinaw in his boat Friday, July 22. Mueller and his Tahoe Sport Fishing customers were fishing off the shore of Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course during the American Century Championship.

Mueller was planning on relocating, but decided at the last minute to take another pass at the same spot — with a different technique. Just before 8 a.m., a female angler onboard indicated she had a bite, and for a little more than 10 minutes the captain coached her through the tiring fight.

The 24-pound mackinaw is the largest fish Mueller has ever caught on his boat. Everyone was ecstatic and shocked to see the size of the fish the female angler pulled onto the boat.

"It was an amazing experience for all involved, and a really good day of fishing," Mueller said.

The 24-pound lake trout was caught on a long line with a live minnow trolling at around 250 feet outside of Edgewood Tahoe, and is one of the largest fish pulled out of Lake Tahoe this year. Over the course of the weekend, 10-, 12.65-, and 15-pound mackinaw were also caught.

Tahoe Sport Fishing is the only family-owned and operated fishing fleet on Lake Tahoe, with eight boats catering from single anglers to families, large groups and private charters. For more information, visit http://www.tahoesportfishing.com.
