Staffing issue forces temporary closure of Incline Village Forest Service office

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The U.S. Forest Service is temporarily closing its Incline Village office for the winter months due to a staffing issue.

The office will be closed starting Wednesday, Dec. 26, according to an announcement from U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.

The closure is due to staffing issues, according to Lisa Herron, public affairs specialist with LTBMU. Officials anticipate reopening the office in the spring but an official date remains undetermined.

During the closure all services will be available through the Forest Supervisor’s office in South Lake Tahoe, including the sale of access, senior and interagency passes along with fuelwood (seasonal) and wilderness permits.

The South Lake Tahoe office also sells maps and offers backpacking, biking, hiking, off-highway vehicle and other recreational information for the Lake Tahoe Basin.

The South Lake Tahoe office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. excluding holidays. It is located at 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe. The phone number for the office is 530-543-2600.
