J.P. Kelsey

It was bluebird skies today as the riders competing in the Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s race empowered with SRAM took off from Heavenly California Base Lodge. There were 17 teams and 99 riders  at the official 10:40 a.m. start. This is the only UCI Women’s WorldTour event to take place in the United States.

The event features women and teams from all around the world—many of which are internationally recognized in the sport. Stage one will be completed today and stage two, tomorrow. Today’s stage one portion will cover approximately 73 miles around the lake and should conclude around 2 p.m. at Heavenly California. Tahoe Daily  Tribune will provide updates as the race progresses.
