Starbucks seeking grant applicants

Starbucks Coffee Company, building upon its tradition of investing in the communities where it does business, has launched the California Giving Program. The program will showcase and support local nonprofit organizations and charitable agencies throughout the state by awarding grants totaling up to $1 million. The focus of the program is to support and fund programs, services or projects that allow children the opportunity to grow and flourish.

All groups considered for these grants must be California-based registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with programs, services or projects that focus on creating better futures for children. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply no by March 13. Additional information is available at California Starbucks retail locations and online at http://www.starbuckscalgiving.com.

Finalist organizations from each region will participate in site visits by the committee.

The grantees will be announced at the end of June.
