Stateline man facing child abuse charges

A 41-year-old Stateline man is facing criminal charges in connection with injuries sustained by his 6-year-old daughter.

Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators were called to Barton Memorial Hospital last week after the girl was rushed in with a fractured femur. Before the girl was taken into surgery, she told detectives that her father broke her leg, police said.

Investigators said the 6-year-old and her 8-year-old sister have both been removed from the home before by Child Protective Services.

Scott Stephen Hill, a security guard at Bill’s Lake Tahoe Casino, turned himself in at the Douglas County Sheriff’s station the following day. Hill is charged with domestic battery, battery causing substantial bodily harm, child abuse and neglect. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Hill made no statements to investigators. The children’s mother was working at the time of the incident, police said.

Hill is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the charges March 3 in the Tahoe Township Justice Court.
