Stateline Medical Center expanding

To reduce the wait for patients at the Stateline Medical Center, the center’s office space has been expanded by 1,000 square feet and a doctors’ office is scheduled to open next door.

The doctors’ office will serve as a satellite site for Tahoe Family Physicians, Job’s Peak Pediatrics and two independent doctors. The office is scheduled to open by mid-September to help alleviate the workload at the medical center so it can focus on urgent care, said Aimee Morales, promotions coordinator for Barton Memorial Hospital, part of Barton HealthCare Systems, which owns Stateline Medical Center.

“This way it will help reduce the wait for family care,” Morales said. “Now they have a place to make an appointment and see a family physician.”

Dr. Rita Wang, Dr. Carol Swartz and Dr. Kathyrn Stevenson will work at the Stateline office for Job’s Peak. Dr. Stephen Hewitt will be the doctor for Tahoe Family Physicians’ office.

Dr. Jorge Perez, a cancer specialist, will work on an independent basis in the office one day a week. Dr. Richard Nixon, a urologist, will work two days a week, Morales said. Stateline Medical Center opened at Edgewood Village, at the intersection of Highway 50 and Kingsbury Grade, last summer.
