South Lake Tahoe’s own Black Star Safari will get in the holiday spirit this weekend with a free show at Steamers Bar & Grill Saturday, Nov. 28.

The duo of Dan Green (guitar and vocals) and Matthew Mandella (drums and vocals) performs high-energy rock, folk and funk. Black Star Safari lists the Black Keys, the Who, Galactic, Ben Harper and the Black Crowes among its influences.

“This group’s unique songwriting stems from a variety of sources spanning funk, folk, rock, reggae and many others,” according to the band’s online biography. “All studied musicians, their diverse musical backgrounds have given them a fresh and unconventional approach to writing, while simultaneously adhering to their pop sensibilities. Priding themselves on their rock solid, high-energy live performances, this band is sure to satisfy both the musical enthusiast and the average listener.”

The band released “Cut & Dry,” a five-song EP, in June 2014.

Steamers Bar & Grill is located at 2236 Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe
