Dan Thrift/Tahoe Daily Tribune/ The South Tahoe High School band rehearses for the annual free STHS Spring Concert scheduled Thursday at 7 p.m.

The South Tahoe High School Instrumental Spring Concert will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. in the STHS Theater. It is free and all are welcome.

This concert features the string orchestra playing “Autumn” from the “Four Seasons” and “Bylina.” The advanced wind players will join the strings for two combined works, “Bacchanale,” from “Samson and Delilah” and “Romany Dances” by Elliot DelBorgo.

The band will perform several works including the beautiful “Heaven’s Light” featuring Mary Kurek on flute, accompanied by the talented mallet players, Bubba Romagnolo, Becca Kushner and Ali Martinez; “River Valley Celebration,” “Helios,” an English-style march, and “Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual,” an incredibly exciting work by Robert W. Smith, featuring the outstanding percussion section.

The concert comes only a few days before the Anaheim Gold Medal Festival, where the full orchestra and band will compete against other quality bands and orchestras hoping to come away with high honors once again. It is a concert not to be missed.
