STHS frosh girls win home opener

South Tahoe’s freshman girls’ basketball team won its home opener on Friday night, defeating Fernley 30-28.

The Vikings built a 20-13 halftime lead, then held off a second-half surge by Fernley.

Karley Martinez topped South Tahoe with 11 points, while Kaila Griffis added eight points and Raquel Marchesseault scored five.

South Tahoe will remain at home when it entertains Dayton on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
