STHS soccer splits at Sparks
The boys’ soccer team lost 3-0 at Sparks High School on Thursday. The girls team once again shut out their opponent, blanking Sparks 7-0. Coach Chris DeLeon said it was his subs on Thursday that played big.
“We got off to a slow start and didn’t score till the 20th minute,” DeLeon said. “It was a really good game for the substitutes that came on, because they got four out of the seven goals.
“We just started really slow and these girls took advantage of the time they had in there and got some goals.”
The Vikings had goals from Brittany Sanchez, Kelly Colleton, Jenny Burks, Mariah Valdivia, Larissa Angelocci, Mikaela Buckley and Cassidy Jackson. There were no shots on the South Tahoe goal.
“They did really well, that’s what I’m really liking this year,” DeLeon said about his bench players. “The substitutes, we’re not really losing any of our momentum or skill. That’s why we’re difficult to play at times, because of our numbers.”
