Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe recently presented the Violet Richardson Award to Cierra Rawlings, a student at South Tahoe High School.

The award is given to a young woman between the ages of 14 to 17 who is engaged in volunteer action within her community or school.

Rawlings is said to “suffer from a community-service addiction.” Her volunteer service ranges from the elementary schools to Barton Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, from the Lake Tahoe Marathon to the MS Walkathon – and the list goes on.

When she sees a need, she jumps in and gets it done.
