STPUD salaries available online

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The salaries of South Tahoe Public Utility District employees are now available on the California State Controller’s website.

The posting of the information is part of an effort by Controller John Chiang to make public employee salaries more accessible to the public.

Last October, Chiang collected and posted wage information for more than 600,000 city and county employees.

He then ordered special districts across the state to report the same information. The first 746 districts reported last month.

The second phase, launched Monday, includes almost $5 billion in payroll reported by 539 local agencies, according to a statement from Chiang.

The next phase, expected at the end of April, will include cemetery, electric, financing or construction facilities, flood control, water conservation, recreation and community service districts.

Chiang anticipates completing the website with all special district information, along with compensation for state employees, in June of 2011.
