Streetlight reveler sends letter of apology

In regard to the streetlight incident that took place on New Year’s Eve, I would like to apologize to the public and to the police officers who were present that night.

I am not proud of what I did. It was a very stupid, foolish and dangerous thing to do. My actions not only endangered myself, but also endangered the public and especially the police officers who were trying to ensure everyone’s safety, even mine.

I have turned myself into the police and accept full responsibility for my actions. I am more than willing to pay for the damages I caused. This letter is not an attempt to justify my actions in any way. I just wanted to let the people know that I am sorry and that I do regret everything that has happened. More importantly, not only would I like to apologize to the police officers involved but also to thank them for protecting the public from my recklessness and for protecting me from myself. If they had not responded in such a prompt and professional manner, many people could have been seriously hurt. I am grateful that the police officers were there to handle the situation as well as they did. I hope that this sort of thing never happens again and that Lake Tahoe will continue to be a fun and safe place for people to celebrate the new year.

Sincerely

Eric Lawson
