Strings are attached with this marriage: Husband-and-wife duo plays concert Jan. 25 at LTCC

Harvey Reid is coming back, and this time he’s not alone.

Reid, who had a successful solo acoustic guitar concert last year at Lake Tahoe Community College, will perform Jan. 25 at the Duke Theater, and this time will be accompanied by his wife, Joyce Anderson.

Andersen and Reid are both gifted instrumentalists, strong and versatile singers, and prolific songwriters, and they are comfortable in a dizzying array of styles of roots and Americana music. They jump from Celtic jigs and old-time fiddle tunes to house-shaking blues rockers, soaring gospel duets and beautiful ballads.

Reid’s acoustic and slide guitar work make a perfect backdrop for Andersen’s powerful fiddling, and they take turns on lead and harmony vocals to showcase a repertoire of original, traditional and contemporary music. They have brought audiences to their feet at folk and bluegrass festivals, clubs, coffeehouses and concert halls across the U.S. and in Europe, and have collaborated on four highly acclaimed recordings.

Tickets are $10 in advance at the LTCC bookstore, $13 at the door, $11 in advance online now (www.ltcc.edu/news.asp). Do not call the bookstore. The bookstore is open from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
