Studded tire removal deadline extended

California drivers will be allowed to keep their studded snow tires a little longer each year, thanks to a change in state law.

The time period was extended to April 30 from April 1, bringing California law in line with Nevada. But, Nevada residents still get to put their studs on earlier in the fall. The enhanced tires are legal in Nevada from Oct. 1 to April 30. In California the time period is Nov. 1 to April 30. The April 30th deadline can be extended for adverse weather conditions by the commissioner of the California Highway Patrol.
