Students compete in spelling bee

Six students from the Tahoe Montessori School were invited to attend the first annual charter Invitational Spelling Bee and walked away with top honors. The spelling bee, sponsored by Gold Oak Charter School in Placerville and held at the Gold Oak campus, was for all private and charter schools in El Dorado County.

The Tahoe Montessori School came in first place with 123 points. Golden Hills Elementary School came in second with 122 points and El Dorado Adventist Academy placed third with 118 points.

The TMS team members included Lauren Tang, Kirsten Tang, Liam Loftis, Jeremy Covey, Timothy Spano and Connor Henderson. Their coach and teacher, Susan Ward, was please with the results and the hard efforts of her students. “The students worked very hard for several months in preparation for the spelling bee. I couldn’t be more proud of them,” she said.
