South Lake Tahoe High School students Whitney Elder, Ali Palacios, Jessica Levine and Ashley Aminian brought a local element to their end-of-the-year project on food waste and hunger in America. The four Advanced Placement environmental science students held a bake sale and donated money and canned food collected to Bread & Broth.

Bread & Broth is an all-volunteer program to feed the hungry in the South Lake Tahoe community. A hot, well-balanced meal is provided Mondays at St. Theresa Catholic Church at no charge to anyone who comes through the doors. Bread & Broth includes volunteers of all faiths and nationalities, and meals are served without regard to religion, race, age, or financial situation.
