Students pedal through Tahoe during mission for Zambia

Cyclists pedaled through South Lake Tahoe June 15-16 on a self-led charity ride in support of Active Water’s mission to bring safe drinking water to Zambia. The ride is called Bike Across America, or BAAM.

Starting in San Francisco on June 13, the ride will end 60 days and 4,100 miles later in Baltimore, Md. The goal of this journey is to raise at least $8,000 for Blood Water Mission for the construction of two community wells in Zambia.

According to the organization, 80 percent of infections in developing countries are due to lack of clean water,

sanitation and hygiene.

During the trip, discussions on water resources will occur in more 60 towns.
