Stumbling Block: No spring party for The Block hotel

Lake Tahoe Action

The Block hotel’s annual party has run into a stumbling block.

Losing a venue has forced organizers to postpone the fifth annual Block Party, originally slated for March 28-30, until December. Plans included a rail jam at Sierra-at-Tahoe with an after-party at the hotel, a welcome party and performances by the Pyrx band and DJ Crime.

“It wouldn’t have lived up to the reputation of Block Parties in the past,” event coordinator Dustin Amato said by phone.

Snowboarding icon Marc Frank Montoya owns the Block Hotel on Cedar Street, the site of “The Block” reality TV series. The season is scheduled to air April 20.
