Summer school for dogs starts next week

Tribune

Summer school starts July 24 for Tahoe’s dog students. A variety of positive reinforcement techniques will be used to coach canines and their human companions into healthy and fun relationships.

Three levels are offered: Puppy Kindergarten for ages 8 weeks to 7 months; Beginner Basics for 8 months and older with no previous training experience; and Canine Good Citizen for those who have taken one of the other level classes. Course fees help support the 100 percent donation-supported dependent private animal rescue center.

Courses are held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Level one and two are five-week courses. Level three — leading to the CGC test — is a three-week course. Classes are limited to four to six students and fill up quickly.

Being introduced this month is the Canine Good Citizen Tune-Up Club. Season passes as well as drop-in status are available for the monthly social training sessions to be held through November. Private training sessions also are available.

To register and for more information call the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. at (530) 577-4521.
