Summer weather continues today
Look for warmer conditions today, along with a little more smoke as wind directions change once again.
Skies will remain mostly sunny, with the haze and smoke preventing it from being entirely clear. A few clouds will show up again by afternoon, especially to our south.
Winds will be mainly light during the morning hours, but should become westerly in the 10 to 15 mph range by afternoon. High temperatures today will warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s around the basin, with mid 80s in eastern Alpine and Nevada counties.
Clear skies with some haze and smoke tonight, along with light winds, will allow another seasonably cool night with lows in the mid 30s near Truckee with upper 30s to upper 40s for the rest of us.
The rest of the week looks nice, but there could be a change toward the end of the week and upcoming Air Races weekend in Reno, with perhaps some unsettled cooler weather, gusty winds, showers and — depending on what happens with a weather system off the coast — the possibility of some snow at the very highest elevations.
We will fine tune the details as we get closer.
