Sunny with record highs again today, cooler and windy on Tuesday
After a weekend of record high temperatures look for temperatures to begin to cool throughout the week.
High pressure aloft will be nudged slowly eastward today keeping skies sunny and temperatures climbing into the lower to mid 80s at lake level this afternoon.
The high of 84 at South Lake Tahoe on Saturday tied the record high for the month of May since records were kept back to 1968. The record high for May 19 is only 76 which should be easily broken by several degrees. Lows tonight are forecast to drop into the lower to mid 40s under mostly clear skies.
Just when you thought summer was here to stay…Mother Nature has another plan. A strong cold front is forecast to drop south from the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday kicking up winds from the south to southwest at 20 to 30 mph and gusts to 45 mph in the afternoon.
The actual cold front is projected to pass across the Tahoe area Tuesday evening resulting in a chance of valley rain and mountain snow with a thunderstorm possible for added drama. Temperatures on Tuesday are forecast to cool down into the lower to mid 70s with increasing clouds along with the very windy conditions in the afternoon.
Temperatures are forecast to bottom out in the 50s on Wednesday with unseasonably cool and unsettled weather for the remainder of the week. Stay tuned to see if this cool and unsettled pattern will continue into the holiday weekend.
