Police were still searching Monday evening for a man suspected of robbing El Dorado Savings Bank and then riding off on a red mountain bike with full suspension.

The man was described as wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt, blue jean shorts, white socks and tan work boots.

The police department’s entire day and night shifts responded to the bank at 942 Emerald Bay Road following the call made at 4:54 p.m. Monday.

Details of how the man robbed the bank were not released as of press time, as well as how much, if any, money was taken during the heist.

“No gun was seen,” said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. David Stevenson. Another officer said he was informed that the suspect used a demand note.

South Lake Tahoe police had searched the entire area of the “Y,” as well as the surrounding areas.

Anyone with information on the incident, is asked to call Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900, or Detective Norrgard of the South Lake Tahoe Police.
