Suspected drug dealer flees; reward is offered

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Secret Witness program is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who allegedly rammed a sheriff’s vehicle during a methamphetamine trafficking sting in Stateline on Monday.

Around 11:40 a.m., South Lake Tahoe resident Jamaal Mansoor Eslami, 27, allegedly fled from deputies conducting an undercover investigation into methamphetamine sales on Market Street, Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Halsey said in an e-mail.

After deputies identified themselves, Eslami took off in his green Cadillac Deville and ditched approximately three ounces of methamphetamine, which was recovered by deputies, Halsey said.

In making his escape, Eslami allegedly rammed an unmarked police car, causing minor damage to the bumper, Halsey said. An officer inside the car was unhurt in the incident.

Deputies initially gave chase but backed off after Eslami allegedly began driving fast and recklessly through crowded streets, Halsey said.

About five minutes later, the green Cadillac was found abandoned near the Royal Bahama Motel in South Lake Tahoe, but Eslami was nowhere to be found, Halsey said.

Eslami is described as 27 years old, approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall, 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Eslami is wanted on suspicion of methamphetamine trafficking, methamphetamine sales, assault on a peace officer, and felony reckless driving.

Anyone with information about Eslami’s whereabouts is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigation division at (775) 782-9905 or Secret Witness at (775) 782-7463.
