TRUCKEE – Police here arrested a man and a woman who were allegedly attempting to sell cocaine and methamphetamine in the area.

Amanda St. Clair and Michael Heil were arrested near Alder Drive in Truckee on multiple drug charges. Officers found meth and cocaine packaged for individual sale in a tan sports utility vehicle driven by St. Clair. Police also found $1,700 in cash, other prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.

Meanwhile, residents of Alder Drive detained Heil, who they had seen run from out of the forest. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Heil. They believe he was a passenger in the SUV before he fled.

Police say that alert homeowners in the area made the entire case possible. The Alder Drive area had recently experienced a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles, as well as a burglary of the Alder Creek Middle School.

Both suspects were booked into the Nevada County Jail in Truckee. Police are still investigating the incident.
