Synagogue offers Yom Kippur services

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Temple Bat Yam, serving South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Dayton and Carson Valley, welcomes members and visitors to join in observance of special services in anticipation of the Jewish High Holy Days, which began with the Jewish New Year of 5772 (Rosh Hashanah) on Sept. 28 and end with and the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) on Oct. 8.

This is considered the most important period of the Jewish year.

Services are led by the temple’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Evon Yakar. The Rabbi will be assisted by Cantor Jim Heilborn, spiritual leader and cantor of the Shalom Group in Lincoln Hills, Calif. Accommodations for Cantor Heilborn were donated by Aston Lakeland Village. All services and events are open to any interested area resident or guest. Non-member attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the temple.



Guests may join temple members in including the names of deceased loved ones to be read aloud at the Yizkor memorial service. They may provide names at any prior service. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services will be conducted at Temple Bat Yam, 3260 Pioneer Trail, South Lake Tahoe, unless otherwise noted.
