Jean LeGassick

The Tahoe Art League invites the public to view a demonstration of painting techniques by Jean LeGassick, which will take place as part of its monthly meeting on July 8 at 6 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center.

LeGassick works in oil and watercolor and enjoys working en plein air, allowing the sights, sounds, and breezes she experiences to inform her work. Featured as one of six artists filmed for the PBS series, “Plein Air: Painting Jean LeGassick the American Landscape,” which has been aired on public television stations throughout the nation, LeGassick’s work has also been published in numerous national magazines, including as a featured artist in PleinAir Magazine.

LeGassick is a Signature Member of both the Plein-Air Painters of America and the California Art Club, and has taught art at Cerro Coso Community College in Bishop, Calif. She now makes her home in Silver City, Nev.

In addition to LeGassick’s demonstration, part of the meeting will be devoted to a remembrance of local artist, teacher, mentor and friend, David Russo.

The Tahoe Art League meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe,. The public is invited to attend this free event. For more information, visit http://www.talart.org/.
