Tahoe Athletes compete at USASA nationals

USASA’s national event in Copper Mountain Colo., filled its last three days with good weather and competitive athletes. Thirty-two regions across the U.S. sent over 1,600 athletes to this National event. As the number of competitive days came to an end athletes fought even harder for a place on the podium.

There were many top results for South Tahoe competitors. Nancy Ng (Legend women) brought home gold’s for Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Half Pipe. Travis Chatwin (Master Men) walked away with a Gold in Slope Style, Silver in pipe and a 4th place for Giant Slalom. Zennon Chatwin (Boys 8-9) ended the week strong with a 2nd place in pipe, 5th in slope style and 9th in Giant Slalom.

Several South Shore athletes brought back overall awards. These athletes include Legend Women Nancy Ng – 1st and Gabriela Voskerician – 2nd, Travis Chatwin (Master Men) 1st, Marco Gooding (Boys 16-17) 5th, Matthew Jones (Boys 14-15) 4th, Taylor Chatwin (Girls 14-15) 6th, Dustin Orr (Boys 12-13) 9th, Denver Orr (Boys 10-11) 11th, Zennon Chatwin (Boys 8-9) 3rd, Tony Piccinonno (Boys 8-9) 9th, and Vincent Piccinonno (Boys 7 & under) 5th.

Freestyle Results for south shore athletes went to Half Pipe riders: Gabriela Voskerician (Legend Women) 2nd, Dustin Orr (Boys 12-13) 41st, Denver Orr (Boys 10-11) 32nd, and Tony Piccinonno (boys 8-9) 12th.

Slope Style athletes: Open Class women Julianne Brackett – 3rd and Molly Clark – 23rd, Natalie Vitalie (Girls 18-22) 4th, Danny Robinson (Boys 16-17) 20th, Marco Gooding (Boys 16-17) 22nd, Matthew Jones (Boys 14-15) 8th, Keaton Schneider (Boys 14-15) 10th, Liam Loftis (Boys 14-15) 58th, Dustin Orr (boys 12-13)7th, Denver Orr (Boys 10-11) 53rd, and Tony Piccinonno (Boys 8-9) 11th.

Other top results for South Shore Slalom racers: Gabriela Voskerician (Legend Women) 5th, Open Class women Tess Weathers – 6th and Sage Hoffee – 8th.  Open Class men Casey Weathers took 20th.  Ian Diem (Boys 18-22) 3rd, Kyle Dachtler (boys 18-22) 8th, Ashley Defillipo (Girls 18-22) 6th, Marco Gooding (Boys 16-17) 13th, Dylan Staples (Boys 16-17) 15th, Amanda Rolfe (Girls 16-17) 2nd, Matthew Jones (Boys 14-15) 8th, Taylor Chatwin (Girls 14-15) 15th, Alyson Rolita (Girls 14-15) 30th, Zennon Chatwin (Boys 8-9) 23rd, Tony Piccinonno (Boys 8-9) 17th, and Vincent Piccinonno (boys 7 & under) 11th.

Boarder X athletes: Boys 18-22 Cameron Price – 1st, Ian Diem – 3rd and Kyle Dachtler – 15th, Marco Gooding (boys 16-17) 25th, Matthew Jones (Boys 14-15) 8th, Michael Kelly (Boys 14-15) 32nd, Taylor Chatwin (Girls 14-15) 17th, and Jessica Benefiel (Girls 14-15) 26th.
