Tahoe author at book signing Saturday
Neighbors Bookstore will feature a book signing by South Lake Tahoe author Reginald McPherson, who has penned “Wit and Wisdom From a Fool: Quotes, Quips and Poetry.”
The book is a collection of experiences, thoughts and feelings that McPherson has encountered over the years, taking deep philosophical journeys into issues of faith, love, family, spirituality and beauty.
“It is a rich and frank look at life’s experiences, uplifting and startling all at the same time,” said Michael Stroschein, Neighbors Bookstore owner.
Bringing a unique perspective to his musings that are poignant as they are real, McPherson’s book is meant for anyone who struggles with day-to-day life looking for rudimentary answers to life’s most perplexing dilemmas.
Having been a writer for much of his life, he began to chronicle periods of personal transition through poetry and philosophy beginning in 1995, years in which he was tested emotionally and spiritually.
“Basically writing has always been my therapy,” McPherson said. “If I’ve been in a funk or something, I would write it down. The answers to my problems would find themselves through the writing and meditation.”
After moving to Lake Tahoe in 2000, McPherson’s wife, Robbie, convinced him to put his words into a book. The idea being that McPherson’s thoughts have universal themes of truth, spirituality and morality.
Robbie McPherson passed away in April of this year of brain cancer, less than a year after “Wit and Wisdom From a Fool” was published. The book is dedicated to her and others who have touched McPherson, providing him the wisdom and insights into living a deeper, richer and more fulfilling life.
