Tahoe Better Breathers to meet

Tahoe Daily Tribune

Better Breathers, a support group for those with respiratory problems, will meet Wednesday, April 22, at 1 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Speaker Jan Peacock will answer questions about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, and indoor air pollution.

The group usually meets the third Wednesday of the month, but altered its schedule for April.

Next month the group will meet on May 20 at 1 p.m. Guest speaker Diane Angell, patient support specialist with CSL Behring, will give a presentation titled, “What is causing my COPD? Could it be hereditary emphysema?”

Angell will discuss alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, an inherited form of emphysema. People with this condition, also known as AAT deficiency or alpha-1, do not have enough of a protein called alpha-1 antitrypsin in their blood.

For more information, contact Peacock at (530) 542-9183.
