Tahoe children get a ‘head start’

Children in the Lake Tahoe Head Start program recently participated in graduation exercises at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex.

Head Start is a federally funded program operated by the El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools in Placerville. The program gives children from low-income families a developmental preschool experience that emphasizes school, health, nutritional, emotional and educational needs.

Head start focuses on working with families. Parents participate in the classroom and are involved in planning and operation. The program is open to children who are 3 years old to kindergarten age and has centers at three locations in South Lake Tahoe.
