Tahoe Choir to perform Christmas concerts

The Tahoe Choir will presents its 36th annual Christmas concerts this weekend. “Musical Holiday Potpourri” will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Lake Tahoe Community College Duke Theater and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for seniors and students. They will be available for purchase at the door a half-hour before each concert.

For people who have a preference for classical music, the choir will sing the music of Ravel, Holst and Mozart, and Mendelssohn’s eight-part “Heiling” will be sung a capella in German.

For those whose tastes are in more popular or traditional choral music, the choir will sing “Carol of the Bells,” “The Holly and the Ivy,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and the spiritual “Everytime I Feel the Spirit.”

Sung previously or new to audiences, modern, in English, Latin or German, upbeat or haunting, accompanied by piano or instrumentalists, solos or duets – the choir’s concerts promise to please.

The Tahoe Choir/Lake Tahoe Community College Chorus is directed by Linda Mitchell and accompanied by Salli Parker.
