Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless receives vital funding from the Big Day of Giving Campaign

Submitted to the Tribune

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In a community where winter’s chill can be unforgiving and affordable housing remains scarce, the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless stands as a beacon of hope. Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) provides critical services to South Lake Tahoe’s unhoused population.

TCH would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who participated in the Big Day of Giving Campaign provided by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. Tens of thousands of people from around the area gave to the causes that matter most to them.

Because of the communities’ generosity, this community-driven movement has raised valuable funds to help us continue providing lifesaving support to those in need.

TCH provides services via a number of innovative programs:

  • Homekey Program – A statewide effort to sustain and rapidly expand housing for persons experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
  • Coordinated Entry – (CE) is a standard, community-wide intake and triage process to match people experiencing homelessness with resources that best fit their situation.
  • Arise – provides support to survivors of domestic violence by providing short-term and medium-term tenant-based rental assistance and support services.
  • Rapid Rehousing ESG – Rapid Rehousing via the Emergency Solutions Grant provides tenant-based rental assistance and support services to households who are homeless.

Executive Director Kimberly Peterson leads a passionate team, helping clients transition into stable housing. TCH’s primary mission is clear: move clients toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Board President Joe Herold says, “I think it’s a valuable contribution of time, talent, and resources to look after the safety, health, and dignity of our most vulnerable neighbors. Doing so has the potential to lift them and the community while creating a more cohesive and compassionate society. I’m proud to be a part of the team of board members, staff, and donors who are investing in the lives of our neighbors in their time of need.”

As the community looks ahead, our commitment remains steadfast. You can provide support to TCH here: https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/organization/Tahoe-Coalition-For-The-Homeless
