Tahoe Daily Tribune sells building; co-working space to be created

At 10 a.m. Friday, the Tahoe Daily Tribune building was officially sold to a group with the vision of creating a co-working space.

A partnership of locals purchased the building at 3079 Harrison Ave. in South Lake Tahoe. Bernard and Cristi Creegan and David and Jamie Orr, under the name The Press Project LLC, will spend the next few months renovating the building to create private offices and a co-working space. The Tahoe Daily Tribune will remain in the building with a fresh new office space.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the new owner’s Press Project vision and see the building enter into this vibrant new chapter,” Natasha Schue, Tahoe Daily Tribune Publisher, said. “Given the recent updates along Harrison Avenue, the timing could not be better and we look forward to the updated and renovated new space for the Tribune staff and our customers.”

“We love what this project represents for small business on the South Shore,” Jamie Orr said. “By revitalizing this building, we are creating a beautiful space for local businesses to start, to grow, and to collaborate with one another in a way that we believe will benefit our entire community.”

The group said many businesses, both local and relocating, have expressed interest in moving into the building.

“There is so much vitality in the Harrison Avenue corridor, with its connection to Lakeview Commons and the new Class 5 bike path, that we hope to build upon,” Cristi Creegan said. “Both community members and visitors come to this part of town, and we want what’s in this building to be one more reason to come here.”

Buyers’ Agent Scott Fair, said “As we continue to look at broadening the economic base in town, recover the living wage jobs of the past and provide sustainable opportunities for future generations, this is an incredible opportunity for the community to open new doors and leverage the technological, demographic and cultural changes taking shape in the world today in order to attract more long-term year-round living wage jobs.
