Tahoe Jack in The Box set to open June 17

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Jack In The Box restaurant is now planning a mid-June opening in South Lake Tahoe at the former location of Arby’s.

The projected opening date is June 17, said Christi Quatro, marketing director for Jack In The Box – Nevada & Colorado.

About 50 employees will be hired, Quatro said, and applications are now being accepted.

Although businesses aren’t allowed to have new drive-throughs under Tahoe Regional Planning Agency regulations, the drive-through at the new Jack In The Box is grandfathered in, TRPA officials said. The regulation is intended to reduce emissions from idling vehicles.

The fast-food restaurant will be open around the clock on weekends. Features will include Wi-Fi, plasma televisions, and a self-serve kiosk where customers can place their own orders and pay via a touch-screen.

The restaurant will be operated by Emerald Cascade Restaurant Systems, which owns and operates 20 Jack In The Box restaurants in the Northern Nevada area.
