Tahoe Jam ready to set sail
First Baptist Church Youth Ministry on Oct. 25 will sponsor “Tahoe Jam 2006” aboard the Tahoe Queen. Boarding is at 6 p.m. and the paddlewheeler will depart from the Ski Run Marina at 6:30 p.m. The boat will return to the dock and participants will be ready to be picked up at 9 p.m.
All middle school through college-age youth are welcome. The cost is $5 per person and includes food, live band, raffle prizes and karaoke. Participants should bring additional money for snacks. No alcohol, drugs or tobacco will be allowed.
This is the eighth year of the evangelical event, and around 400 young Christians, both teens and young adults, are expected to attend. In the past the trip was paid for by local donations from churches and various individuals.
The cruise has been a catalyst for faithful participants in the past and this year organizers are keeping the faith that the tradition will continue.
In past years, some local teens, after hearing the gospel message of Jesus Christ have responded in a life-changing way. A few of the young people, having found salvation through Christ, have even become youth leaders and had radical life changes as a result of meeting the Lord. Prayer is big this year. As a result of prayer and God’s goodness, a good Samaritan Real Estate developer has already volunteered to pay for the entire trip, so any additional prayers are for musicians to get on board as well.
Also needed are adults to chaperone, patrol the upper deck, unload equipment and help in miscellaneous duties including check-in at boarding, lost and found, refreshments clean-up.
