Tahoe man charged with sexual assualt

by Gregory Crofton

A 42-year-old man from South Lake Tahoe is charged with two felony counts stemming from a sexual assault of a girl younger than 14.

Michael Timothy Meador, a former employee at Horizon Casino Resort and a South Shore resident for more than two years, is accused of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a girl in the early morning hours of March 31.

The young girl was reportedly invited to spend the night at his house by Meador’s daughters, who are ages 12 and 13.

Meador allegedly entered the room where the group of girls were sleeping and assaulted the girl who was visiting his Spruce Avenue residence, police said. The girl told her parents about the assault later that day.

Meador’s bail, first set at $50,000, was reduced to $30,000. He is expected in court April 19 at 8 a.m. for a preliminary hearing. If convicted of both felonies, Meador could be sentenced to 16 years in prison.
